This project has been lunched under the supervision of Sri Lanka Education Ministry, while the technological knowledge and guidance are provided by Horizon Lanka Foundation. As the first step, a programme has been introduced to improve the computer literacy of students and the villagers of the area . it under the observation of the computer lab of the Mahalakotuwa government school. There are 3 computer courses available in the school and the computer literacy of the students is about 95% by now.
The e-village project which was launched in April 2007 has been plan to proceed by several steps. decision Making and the management takes place through a management board. it is consisted of some school teachers and some villages. A group of 16 students have been selected to assist, taking technology to the village. It is named as the ‘e-group’. Teachers provide necessary updated knowledge to the above group. in addition they use the mini library which has established in the computer room to solve their problems.
